Pangako
Pangako, is a personal reflection of a journey shaped by the past, present, and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead. It is a promise of homecoming, a promise of the future, and a promise never to forget one’s childhood.
“This collection is an intimate reflection of my childhood memories spent at my grandmother’s home—I still distinctly remember the fragrance of Sampaguita flowers and the sight of elegant lace curtains and vintage heirlooms,” the designer shares. “Each piece in the collection is an homage to that space-turned-memory—an ode to the floral patterns hand-stitched by my grandmother and to the timeless beauty that exists in things passed down through generations.”
Weaving the Past into the Future
For this collection, Jot chose a theme inspired by the Sampaguita flower: a delicate product of nature that, even in its freshest form, carries a subtle depth of nostalgia. Jot recalls rummaging through a wooden armoire in his grandmother’s home, finding similar treasures made by generations before. This collection is his way of adding to the treasures that defined his childhood.
Whites and earthy mid-tones are accented by denim blues, natural neutrals, and a range of greens that evoke the lush foliage of his childhood backyard. The collection explores a balance between weight and airiness, blending the lightness of sheer fabrics with feathers, fringe, and 3D necklines, alongside the structure of more substantial materials like denim. Minuscule Sampaguita appliqués adorn key pieces throughout the collection, from sheer dresses to the side seams of denim bell bottoms.
Although Jot’s aesthetic has always embraced a feminine, romantic style, Pangako marks an evolution of the brand for today’s woman—a nod to classic beauty with a contemporary presence. Each piece in the collection honors its history, yet speaks to a new generation of women who appreciate the balance of elegance and modernity.
Reflecting on his 15-year journey, Jot embraces both the joy and challenge of capturing the “now” while staying true to his timeless vision. It was not without hurdles designing a collection for his upcoming anniversary, “One of the most significant challenges this time was ensuring that the designs authentically reflected the essence of my journey while also innovating for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. Striking that balance between honoring the past 15 years and pushing the boundaries of what’s next was a delicate and deeply personal process,” the designer muses.
To overcome these challenges, Jot leaned into the power of storytelling by revisiting archives, reflecting on key moments, themes, and techniques that have defined his brand, and then reimagining them with a modern twist. He shares that collaboration has played a crucial role in this process, engaging with friends from the creative industry and his team, trusting their insights, and experimenting with new techniques and sustainable materials helped him stay grounded while pushing the boundaries of innovation.
The designer also acknowledges the pressure of delivering something truly unique for such a monumental moment, “This isn’t just another collection—it’s a celebration of my journey and growth in the industry,” he admits.
From Sampaguita to the Runway
Hosting his first fashion show in his hometown of San Juan is a significant milestone. “I grew up in San Juan, where my career also began. Every time I visit the city hall to pay taxes, I can’t help but admire its structure and the simplicity of its white interiors—it feels like the perfect blank canvas. I always dreamed of holding my first solo show here, and now that dream is coming true.”
Showcasing 42 looks on December 6, this Anniversary Show is not just a presentation for the Filipino designer, it’s a celebration of where the brand has been and where it’s heading. More than just a runway presentation, it is a narrative experience where he wants people to feel like they are stepping into the essence of his brand. A delicate blend of nostalgia of the past 15 years with the vibrancy and optimism of 2025. Every detail of the event has been carefully curated to ensure it’s more than just a show—it’s a moment to celebrate the journey and look forward to what’s next.
Looking ahead, Jot envisions his brand expanding beyond the Philippines, establishing a stronger international presence in the next 15 years. “The goal is to bring the spirit and craftsmanship of the brand to a wider audience while showcasing Filipino creativity on a global stage,” he shares with passion.
Pangako is more than just a collection; it is a tribute to the roots that inspire looking back as one moves forward. As Jot continues to evolve his brand, his commitment to craftsmanship, storytelling, and honoring his heritage remains at the heart of every piece he creates.
