Uniqlo Releases 24 Hours with Roger-NYC Edition

Roger Federer Takes You Inside the Most Exciting Cities of the World as Only He Can. This time, it’s New York, New York.

Global apparel retailer Uniqlo announces the release of the second 24 Hours with Roger film. Roger Federer, master tennis player, art aficionado, and all-around curious soul, takes you around New York for a day in the life of this storied city. It’s culture, design, food, sports and style—it’s a side of Roger you’ve never seen before, and his unique view of one of the world’s great cities.

Roger’s day begins at Columbia Park, home to some pretty demanding outdoor chess. Roger’s opponent is the young prodigy Tani Adewumi. This match provides a different challenge than what Roger is used to—Tani is a formidable opponent. To recover, Roger hits everyone’s favorite, Scarr’s Pizza, where the man himself, Scarr Pimentel, shows Roger how the perfect pizza is made.

As a lifelong art fan, a visit to The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is a special treat for Roger. He spends time in MoMA’s famed gallery that features Monet’s beloved Water Lilies (1914-16). He then gets an exclusive behind the scenes look at the cutting edge work being done in the David Booth Conservation Center. Of course, Roger’s first love is tennis: he makes a surprise visit to the Cary Leeds Center, where he coaches some up and coming young players. As you can imagine, they are blown away to be on the court with Roger.

Commenting on the latest video, Roger Federer said: “When Uniqlo and I were deciding on the next location of 24 Hours with Roger, New York City was the obvious choice because of its vibrant energy and cultural diversity. It was a pleasure to have a chance to meet new friends, learn new skills and give a special thanks to some of my fans. I hope everyone enjoys this series and are as excited as I am for the future destinations still to come.

Episode Details

Meeting of the Masters. Roger Federer goes to Columbus Park to face off against an unlikely opponent—chess master Tani Adewumi. This young immigrant from Nigeria learned the game while living in a shelter in NYC. Already a master, he has his sights set on becoming grandmaster before fourteen. Let’s see how the maestro does.

Rolling in the Dough. What trip to New York would be complete without a slice of pizza? And, for Roger, not just any slice will do. He stops in at Scarr’s Pizza where the man himself, Scarr Pimentel shows Roger how the magic is made. And Roger gets to work on his doughmaking skills.

Destination Art: Behind-The-Scenes at MoMA. Join Roger, a lifelong art fan, for a special tour behind-the-scenes at The Museum of Modern Art. Spend a peaceful moment with him in the famed gallery that houses Claude Monet’s beloved Water Lilies (1914-16), and follow along in the David Booth Conservation Center as he discovers one of the Museum’s most rarely seen and fascinating spaces where conservators maintain and restore MoMA’s iconic works.

The Perfect Return. When Roger retired, the kids of the Cary Leeds Center made him a special thank-you video. Now Roger makes a surprise visit to the center, to see the kids on their home court and hit the ball with them a bit. It’s his way of returning the love!
