Kaon Ta, Kain Pa! Food And Travel Festival returned to Ayala Malls VisMin in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Cebu and Davao Region. Held in Ayala Center Cebu and Abreeza Mall for Davao, the former was themed “Pulutan at Inumin” while the latter was themed “Food Tripping Christmas.” Both showcased the country’s rich culinary heritage in collaboration with over 30 participating exhibitors from Regions 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, as well as from the Cordillera Administrative Region and the National Capital Region. Rich flavors and local beverages—both local and modern—decked the shelves of participating merchants in both malls; highlighting the country’s culture through artisanal brews, fresh produce, sweet delicacies, partner food bites, and more.
“We are grateful for the trust that the Department of Tourism continues to share with us as their venue partner for Kain Na! This is one step closer to realizing our shared aim with the government, which is to position the Philippines as a premiere culinary destination not only Asia but on a more global scale,” shared Ayala Malls President Christopher Maglanoc.
Through Kaon Ta, Kain Pa!, city dwellers can finally get a taste of the country’s diverse delicacies, all in one accessible location. Among its merchants were Cheding’s Peanuts from Iligan City; Tomarong Cashew Nuts from Cagayan De Oro; De Oro’s Best Beef Jerky from Cagayan De Oro; Tequila de Baler from Baler, Aurora; Tuburan Coffee from Cebu; Asturia’s Best Spicy Sukang Sawsawan from Cebu; Al Vino de Barugo Winery from Eastern Visayas; Strawberry Preserves, Strawberry Vinaigrette, and Rum from Sagada; Banana Chips from Bukidnon; Daniel’s Hopia Bagnet from Ilocos Norte; and more.
“With Kaon Ta, Kain Pa!, the DOT aims to provide a platform for the development and promotion of regional cuisine as well as supporting farm tours and our tourism circuits that DOT Secretary Christina Frasco advocates to boost the recovery of intra- and inter-regional travel,” said DOT Xl Regional Director Tanya Rabat Tan.
