Bumble prioritizes compatibility with new “Top Artists” Spotify Integration

Popular dating app lets you see musical compatibility with a potential match

Bumble, the women-first dating and social networking app, is announcing the latest iteration of its Spotify integration, “Top Artists,” designed to help you find your musical match and identify shared interests through top mutual artists. Beginning today, Bumble members who link their Spotify account to their profile will be able to see if they are musically compatible and share a top artist with their potential match. Mutual artists are visible at the top of a person’s Bumble Date profile to encourage intentional connection.

Based on Bumble’s global activity in 2023 thus far, those who have linked their Spotify account to their profiles were more likely to receive a right swipe than those who did not.

Despite the popular belief that opposites attract, research has consistently shown that having similarities in important areas, such as values and lifestyles, is the key to a successful romantic relationship,” said Bumble’s Sex and Relationships Expert Shan Boodram. “Discovering that you and a potential romantic partner love the same artist is a fun and fast way to establish common ground, plus it provides a natural segue to start other important conversations around each person’s priorities and passions.

Music has always played a role in dating and relationships, from the days of making cassette tapes of love songs to now sharing a playlist with a potential love interest. On Bumble, you can also share your favorite music genres right on your profile with Bumble’s Interest Badges, which provides the Bumble community with a fun and easy way to showcase their personality on a deeper level. As of March 2023, “Rock,” “Electronic,” “Pop,” “Jazz,” and “Hip Hop” were some of the top music genres adopted globally.

The latest Spotify update rolled out globally today and is only accessible to those who link their Spotify account to their Bumble profile. This feature joins Compliments, Speed Dating, and Recommend to a Friend in a suite of recently launched features aimed at providing a more intentional, fun, and kinder dating experience.

Bumble is free to download and is widely available in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and online.
