Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club empowers Filipino Changemakers

Award-winning whisky Glenfiddich brings together visionaries in search of the next Filipino changemaker

Through a series of curated gatherings composed of select Filipino thought leaders and entrepreneurs, Glenfiddich, the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, has brought the Where Next Club to the Philippines, which showcased four Mavericks who are bold enough to create the change they want to see and break through into the world. These Mavericks possess ideas or initiatives worth evolving into the next Filipino global idea.

Embracing Glenfiddich’s spirit of innovation, The Where Next Club aims to gather Filipino Mavericks, and ignite bayanihan, diskarte, aruga at likha (patriotism, resourcefulness, nurture and creativity)—values that encapsulate the spirit of Filipino mavericks, and connect them to the resources that can help make their ideas breakthrough.

The chosen 4 to inspire Filipino audiences with their breakthrough endeavors were production designer Gil Bien (Bayanihan) who created a budget-friendly, easy-constructed, and typhoon-resilient housing; Ma. Leonelle De Leon-Sandoval (Diskarte), founder of EveGrocer—a startup that pushes sustainability; Reginald Phelps Laguna (Aruga), Chief Technology Officer of startup Cleenvent, which offers an energy-based technology to common household challenges; and Bernadette De Los Santos (Likha at Katha) runs Bidibidi Enterprises, which inspires women to break through the entrepreneurial scene by reliving a forgotten artform.

Empowering Mavericks to Go Beyond

Glenfiddich has a history of continually challenging itself to break new ground. With this, the brand pushes mavericks to continue going beyond through a silent auction that provides monetary support, increasing publicity, and networking opportunities.

The Where Next Club also gathered a network of key opinion leaders who served as Mentors to the Filipino Maverick from select industries: Isabel Cuevas of Gawad Kalinga, Jet Yu, Founder and CEO of Prime Philippines, and Benedict Mariategue, a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur.

Breakthrough Maverick

The title of Breakthrough Maverick is awarded to the changemaker whose idea is deemed the most sustainable, valuable, and groundbreaking to globalize. The award goes to artist, entrepreneur, farmer, and environmentalist Bernadette De Los Santos of Bidibidi Enterprises.

Proceeds from the silent auction, hosted by Glenfiddich which included rare bottles such as Glenfiddich Gran Cortes XXII and Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 Years Old, go towards supporting De Los Santos in her continued efforts to push the boundaries. On top of that, our Mentors are also providing additional resources to support the cause of the Breakthrough Maverick, such as support with branding, providing office space, and many more.

When asked what motivates her to break through with her endeavors, Bernadette De Los Santos shares, “I always look back to my community. What if I stop, what will happen to them? They need somebody like me, to give them those opportunities so that they can earn more, and they can contribute better [to] their family income.

The Where Next Club served as the avenue for Glenfiddich’s advocacy of bringing together select thought leaders, entrepreneurs of all levels, and visionaries—and to allow them to converse, improve, and champion their causes and ideas and share them on a global stage.
