Nourish, protect and color your lips with Issy & Co.’s new Solar Balm—the second of three launches that’ll make this summer your best one yet.

Always one to innovate, Issy & Co.‘s second launch this year is all about the lips. The Solar Balm—a nourishing lip screen, is both a sunscreen and lip balm that leaves a sheer wash of color and keeps the lips hydrated and moisturized.

“There are a lot of options when it comes to sunscreens for the face and body, but not a lot for the lips. It’s also very alarming that even people who wear SPF tend to forget to add protection on their lips too,” begins Issy & Co’s co-founder Joel Martin Andrade. Since our lips are made up of skin it is also susceptible to sun damage, releasing the Solar Balm addresses a gap in the local beauty market.

As the name suggests, Solar Balm captures the hybrid nature of lip balm and sunscreen. “However, to ask our customers to add another lip product to their routine is simply not practical so we wanted to create a product that solved all lip issues. That’s how the Solar Balm came to be,” Joel adds.

The Solar Balm can lock hydration in and provide moisture like no other by using Jojoba Seed Oil and Meadowfoam Seed Oil as main emollients. These key ingredients contain fatty acids that help nourish the lips and antioxidants that work in sync with the sunscreen to protect from free radicals.

Speaking of sunscreen, the most unique thing about the Solar Balm is that it’s formulated with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30 PA+++ to also offer hours of sun protection. “In the formula, you will see a blend of both physical and chemical sunscreen filters, together they provide a more stable and broad-spectrum protection,” Joel shares. Benefits of wearing a dedicated lip sunscreen include prevention of UV-related damage and protection against sun and wind burns. It also helps avoid unwanted lip discoloration due to external aggressors.

Coming in two finishes—Glow and Natural, the Solar Balm highlights Issy & Co.’s promise to deliver high-quality and versatile products. “Glow is a glossy sheen finish, which is for people who enjoy wearing glosses and lip oils, but we are also offering Natural which comes in a more semi-matte finish that looks like you have nothing on,” says Joel. As a matter of fact, with the Solar Balm’s true sheer coverage, you can layer it up to three times and still have it look natural.

The Solar Balm offers options through its two different finishes and 8 universally flattering shades. Each finish features four-color stories—a cool pink, nude brown, warm coral, and berry mauve. The Solar Balm in Glow finish includes the shades Playdate (cool soft pink), Bloom (warm poppy coral), Slick (warm nude brown), and Promiscuous (neutral berry mauve), which Natural finish includes Petal (cool delicate rose), Sherbet (warm nude peach), Undone (cool rosy beige) and Melodrama (neutral pink mauve).
