Marriott Hotel Manila joined and showed its commitment in addressing the issue of responsible seafood sourcing together with other Manila’s top hotels and restaurants during the Sustainable Seafood media launch on January 20 in Marriott Hotel Manila.
According to Michelle Garcia, marketing and communications director of Marriott Hotel Manila, they would like to make sure that all their guests consume not just fresh, but of course sustainably caught seafood as well.
Marriott Hotel declared its support for the promotion of sustainable seafood by pursuing responsible business practice in sourcing seafood products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
In addition, the hotel is not just concerned about the health of the guests, they also want to ensure that the health of the environment is being taken care of.
Meik Brammer, executive chef of Marriott Hotel Manila, said, “For me, it is important to tell our guests or advise our guests of what is safe to consume without hurting the environment.”
During the media launch, Marriott Hotel Manila dramatically served a hanging buffet with silver shrimps from Vietnam, salad toppings, and a variety of sustainable sauces.
The hotel has long been supporting efforts to protect the seas and promote sustainable food. In fact, they even participated in the very first Sustainable Seafood Week last year, which really shows how dedicated they are with their commitment to marine life preservation.
Sustainable Seafood Week will be taking place from February 20-26, 2017.
